Purchase the correct plug adaptors from an electronics store before you leave home so that you can charge your cell phone while in India. India uses plug types "C" and "D." Use a transformer that can handle 230 volts, which is the voltage used in India, when charging your cell phone. Your cell phone will likely fry if you do not use the correct transformer.

Mumbai - Zenzi is where graphic designers who don’t cook eat, film producers meet agencies, incoming expats hope to get to know people, young execs dine clients, models mill about. Drinks are not cheap, and neither is the French, Thai, Japanese and Indonesian food. Service can be sometimes slow due to the sheer volume. No one’s complaining because Zenzi delivers on all other counts. #DiningOutInMumbai

The Tasting Room (Mumbai) is located on the veranda at the upper level of the Good Earth store. Candelabras, silk cushions and fashionable furnishings create the atmosphere of an intimate bistro. The menu is suitably style conscious -- port-poached beets, arugula salad and paprika-dusted grilled chicken among the offerings. The only drawback to The Tasting Room is a wine-only drinks list.

Arguably Mumbai's most famous seafood restaurant - Trishna - serves up hyderabadi dal (spicy lentils), prawns koliwada (batter-fried prawns) and pomfret hyderabadi-style (a local fish barbecued with a coating of freshly ground pepper) really fast. The design and décor of the Harbour Bar is influenced by its history with Art Deco furniture and finishes. The center bar is a solid, carved piece of white marble, while the back bar framed in cut glass has an inviting warm glow. More windows and a raised seating area overlook the Gateway of India harbor. Intimate and classy, it exudes an old world charm offset by contemporary Indian art.

By the 19th century, Britain had assumed political control of virtually all Indian lands. Indian armed forces in the British army played a vital role in both World Wars. Nonviolent resistance to British colonialism led by Mohandas GANDHI and Jawaharlal NEHRU brought independence in 1947. The subcontinent was divided into the secular state of India and the smaller Muslim state of Pakistan.
