Regulators are looking into Robinhood's practice of offering new users free shares, according to the Wall Street Journal.

In August, the NYSE adopted a rule stopping brokers from seeking compensation for documentation costs when shares are given away for free, though this does not directly apply to Nasdaq-listed Robinhood.
